Lamination

The Lamination Project is a design research project that models new forms of resource stewardship by examining the hidden exchanges that underlie our relationships with materials. It focuses on preserving the value of resources perceived as waste, shifting from product-making to system-building through a collaborative and technological design process. The project introduces a novel perspective on the notion of exchange, examining how materials circulate, accumulate, and transform across time and ownership, beyond the traditional field of view.   By tracing these flows, the project proposes an actionable framework for resource-conscious design that extends both the lifecycle and agency of materials. The kit of parts approach enables design for disassembly and reuse, supporting circular practices and traceability of embodied carbon. The project formed the anchor for our (Re)Collections Installation exhibited at the 2024 Materials Matters Fair, London Design Festival. Year: 2024
